What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a Primary health care modality that has flourished in China for at least 2,500 years and is used widely throughout Asia and Europe. It is considered as one of the newest primary health care provision in this country. Acupuncture has grown as both western and oriental physicians, medical researchers, and the public experience it, integrate it in their health care, and spread it's benefits.
Far more than a technique of inserting tiny threadlike needles along meridian lines of the body, acupuncture's complex system of diagnostic corollaries take into consideration the person as a whole, not just isolated symptoms. Acupuncture is practiced based on discerning the "pattern of disharmony" and treating accordingly. It utilizes other modalities as well, such as herbal medicine and moxibustion, exercise and nutrition.
Acupuncture treats to strengthen the physical condition, prevent disease, control pain, and achieve longevity. The aim as practiced in oriental medicine in general is not necessarily to eliminate or alleviate symptoms. The objective, rather, is to increase both the ability to function and the quality of life.
Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine that has been used for over 3,000 years to help the body heal itself by creating microscopic, micro-traumas using tiny sterile, hair fine needles placed in specific points in the body to stimulate the body’s internal self-healing abilities.
Electro acupuncture is a form of acupuncture in which acupuncture needles are attached to a device that generates continuous electric pulses. According to some acupuncturists, this practice augments the use of regular acupuncture, can restore health and well-being, and is particularly good for treating pain. One of the most commonly used chiropractic techniques, Diversified Treatment entails quick, shallow manual thrusts. This manipulation often produces a popping noise in the joint.
Infrared heat lamps are used to keep body warm and comfortable as well as for healing properties. Far infrared heat as opposed to traditional and direct heating methods, penetrates deeper into your body without skin discomfort. There are many known benefits of infrared heat therapy including increased circulation, relaxation of body tissue, and decreases in pain.
Tuina is a hands-on body treatment that may include brush, knead, roll, press, and rub the areas between each of the joints, known as the eight gates, to attempt to open the body's defensive chi (Wei Qi) and get the energy moving in the meridians and the muscles.

Cupping is the method of creating a vacuum in a glass jar that is placed on the skin to increase blood flow, decrease muscle tension and pain, and help nourish the body tissues.
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese heat therapy that involves the burning of the plant mugwort called “moxa” close to the surface of the skin. It has been used for thousands of years in Asia to help energize the flow of Qi and to provide balance within the body. Moist heat is the most common superficial heat therapy treatment. We use moist heat pack to speed recovery by increasing blood flow to the targeted area. This increased circulation brings in fresh blood and takes away the wastes which may slow healing. Patients often report greater relief of symptoms from moist heat.
Chinese herbs can be used both internally and topically to enhance the body’s own healing abilities and balance body systems. We use synergistic blends of Chinese Herbs that have been used for centuries for anything from eczema, urinary tract infections, acne, stress and emotional disturbances, menstrual irregularities, the enhancement of fertility, and much much more. |
